The Thrill of the Fall!

The Jumping Pool

Gibralter Dam, a sprawling pool in the Los Padres Forest and the single largest canyon swimming hole I've ever swam across. The jumps here were kinda low compared to Red Rock, which is just three miles downstream, but still big enough for me. The highest ledges were just shy of 70 feet and this pool had one of the healthiest ecosystems I've ever swam in. I was scared because the fish are huge and they were fearless. It looked very painful to land on one of them from 65 feet in the air! We all survived, had a great time before getting kicked out by a silly park janitor with a cell phone and an authority complex.
