Mugu Rock, Hwy 1, California
People die here. The surging waves pound swimmers against barnacle encrusted rock until their bodies are crushed. The waves have also been known to sweep people from the rocks and they last about a minute in the water before just not coming back up. Drive North on Hwy 1 until you pass Sycamore Cove.
You will see a giant mountain with a path for the road cut through it. Park on the ocean side of the road on either side of the big mountain, There are parking lots. Head for the old scenic lookout and I jump in front of the "bridge". There are 3 20 footers here at different places along the channel and 2 45 foot jumps. The water needs to be checked every time you come here. After a storm sand piles up until it's way too shallow and the ocean tosses giant rocks around like an angry kid kicks his toys.
