in corona del mar there is a beach cliff jumping spot. its a 20 footer kinda nice on a warm day. you have to swim to get to the cliff and jump when the tide comes in.

you guys are kind of mean to poor susan. But i guess it's survival of the fittest.
Good thing she had people around to save her

Jesse,
I just didn't want Susan's warning falling on "deaf" ears...This is a dangerous activity...You know that.

Sorry to hear that Susan. Did you go in the water correctly?? Did you have the experience it takes to actually jump from a cliff?? Do you work out, is your body in the condition it needs to be, for cliff jumping?? This is the MOST extreme sport in the world!! YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND BE IN SHAPE TO DO IT FROM CERTAIN HEIGHTS!! Im glad you are OK now....Enjoy the rest of your life and leave the cliff jumping to us...AMEN!!

Skorch
Joe is Right! We just make it look easy and people wish they could be like us...but they can't.

My guess is you got scared tucked right away and landed on the water in a rear reclining angle. That is why you broke your back. 100% your fault.

You would break your back if you tried to jump a motorcycle over a 90 foot gap too...How would you do packing your own parachute?

Cliff Jumping is not easy. We all paid a price to learn how to PROPERLY cliff jump and it seems you have paid the piper too.

Good Luck and don't go try to bust out any FMX, you barely survived cliff jumping!

I broke my back cliff jumping into a cenote in the jungle of Ek Balam, Mexico. 60 foot jump and burst a vertebrae in my back and broke several others . . . first and last time jumping . . . spinal cord injury and 4 surgeries and one year later I'm okay. Thanks to the guys from Spain who dove down and saved me from drowning.

We've been getting alot of rain this season, the jumping should be good this summer. The last time I went to the Devils Punchbowl it was mossy and stagnant, does anyone know if there is more water flowing?

I started hiking the other day, 1/9/08, and then I T-boned a 16 old girl in Blood Alley, with my car you pervs. I bruised ribs trying to open my driver door with my body, then my bloody body slid horizontally over the airbags, leaving a giant bubble in the passenger side of my windshield.

The paramedics, who clean dead bodies off the HI-5, from Santa Clarita to the Grapevine, told me I was "Very Lucky" to not only survive but to "walk" away.

I have a broken right arm, friction burns from the airbag, whiplash, lacerations and a decent concussion.

The sad part is they're blaming me for it even though I think they have me on the wrong road in the preliminary report. I hope the skid marks tell the story of what really happened.

Why do I think I survived? I have the reflexes of a Cliff Jumper and I got my arms in front of my face before I ate my windshield. I also was not wearing a seat belt which I think inadvertently saved me. Why, The belt would have broken my neck when I was nearly ejected through my driver's door.

Well...I hope this situation turns out in my favor...

I'm so sad...I killed my car and broke my arm. I was just starting to hike around Orange County too. It's a bummer that I'm going to have to wait a month to find any cliff jumps between North LA and North San Diego!

I think I'm going to charge money for directions to all Orange County/South LA Cliff Jumps. This guarantees to keep the "garbage" out my cliff jumping spots, literally and figuratively!

People who could get an exemption to the "Pay to Play" rule are serious jumpers. A serious jumper needs to send more than an email saying "Gee I really want to go to BLANK". They would need to prove they are a worthy jumper and would add to the "spectacle" rather than giving Search & Rescue something to do.

For the record Garbage is defined as Whiny Spectators rooting for blood ( Go Chase Ambulances ), Authorities in general, The Safety Police and day trippers who care nothing for the land. I also do not post family friendly spots. That means the hike could be intense or the pool is a "party spot". If you want your kiddies to have a safe, happy, good time go to Raging Waters or Hurricane Harbor.

I feel like an old man, My dad and I might have been some of the first people to jump off the (la costa) box canyon. I belive it was 1970 71 I will get the photos and post them, we even saw a guy die jumping off the other side...not a good jump...maybe that's why people don't jump the other side....all for now great site thanks for the memories TICO CBAD LOCAL

That sounds like my Big Jump for the '08 season! Box Canyon, late August...Be there and see the show!

I will be doing a few "warm up" jumps at a few Orange County locations so if you know of a giant cliff...I will most likely jump off of it!

Monday December 17th is the day I'm moving to Long Beach. I previewed a few maps and hope to bring you guys pics, this spring, from Long Beach Harbor, Lake Irvine, Limestone Regional Park, Black Canyon, Tujunga Canyon and a few known spots ( The Devil's Punchbowl, Box Canyon, The Clam and hopefully a few more ocean cliffs along PCH ).

This Spring is also going to bring new 12 feet Under Videos. I'm also going to invest in a computer so the website should be error free and updated around February of '08.

I hope you guys enjoy another year of the extreme action and giving it away free is my gift to the world so...Happy Holidays from 12 Feet Under!

I would also like to meet any jumpers from South LA to Northern San Diego. I am going to be a solo show and it's always nice to have moral support and cameramen for those days I decide to Go Big!

P.S. to the S.C.K.,
I hope to still see your ugly mugs on my website. Jesse's got a car...I bet that you guys won't jump Upper Tar Creek Falls or the third squeeze on the Sespe River!

It's Official! January 1st should mark the opening of a new chapter of the S.C.K. Ventura County will still be represented by the familiar faces that are already in the videos. The new headquarters for 12 Feet Under will be between Santa Ana and Huntington Beach, Ca.

That means new jump spots coming this spring and hopefully a bunch of new jumpers and videos to help kick off 2008 in style!
